Part Time Junior/Intermediate Arts/Drama Teacher

JOB PURPOSE

  • To carry out the professional duties of a teacher in accordance with the school’s policies under the direction of the Head of School

  • To be an effective teaching professional who demonstrates a thorough understanding and knowledge of the Arts and Drama curriculum in Ontario

  • To design and implement long range plans and unit plans that demonstrate creativity, inter-discipline connections and a focus on enrichment of curricular topics

  • To provide opportunities for enrichment to our students in arts and drama

  • To demonstrate effective teaching practices that include differentiated instruction to remediate and enrich student learning

  • To work in a collaborative working environment

  • To lead and/or support co-curricular activities such theatre presentations and special events

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Education

  • Proven certification in arts/drama/english

  • 2 - 3 years teaching experience an asset

  • Proven ability to provide high quality education for all students including strong ability to support student development competencies within a critical literacy program focusing on written and oral communication

  • Proven ability to assess, monitor and report on student progress

  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively, differentiate instruction and use innovative teaching practices

  • Proven ability to teach and use technology in the classroom

  • Works with a high standard of integrity and a passion for working with students in an enjoyable progressive environment

  • Good communication skills with parents, students, and co-workers in a respectful and supportive manner

  • To design and implement long range plans and unit plans that demonstrate creativity, inter-discipline connections and a focus on enrichment of curricular topics

  • To implement Health and Physical Education curriculum for grade Jk-8

  • demonstrate effective teaching practices that include differentiated instruction to remediate and enrich student learning

  • To work in a collaborative working environment

  • To lead and/or support co-curricular activities, especially sports teams, and/or clubs, special events etc

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Education

  • Proven teaching certification for elementary students with a  focus on Phys Ed principles and strategies

  • 2-3 years teaching experience an asset

  • Proven ability to provide high quality education for all students including strong ability to support student development competencies within a critical literacy program focusing on written and oral communication

  • Proven ability to assess, monitor and report on student progress

  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively, differentiate instruction and use innovative teaching practices

  • Proven ability to teach and use technology in the classroom

  • Proven ability to support students in team environments for maximum participation in varsity and/or intramural settings

  • works with a high standard of integrity and a passion for working with students in an enjoyable progressive environment

  • Good communication skills with parents, students, and co-workers in a respectful and supportive manner
